Sussex Heritage Roof Awards 2026

Congratulations to all involved in the lead roof repair at Holy Trinity Church Eastbourne, where the work was acknowledged at the Sussex Heritage Awards 2026 with a 'Highly Commended'. The judges commented:

Holy Trinity Church, Eastbourne employed the services of Richard Soan Roofing. What was scheduled to be a repair to a lead covered flat roof developed into a full restoration of the roof area. Water ingress where the lead had split at the rolls had the timber and joists to rot. The restoration was carried out in sandcast lead as specified by the architect. The re-roofing incorporated the use of T-Pren beneath the lead cover street. Two well carved new cornice sections were also installed. The work was well crafted, carried out to a very high standard and was neatly and well done. The judges felt that whilst the nature and scale of the project did not quite command an award the quality of craftsmanship should be noted by a highly commended award.
