Annual Health & Safety Day

The companies annual health and safety day was held on 23rd December with the complete work force in attendance along with specialist sub-contractors who we use on a regular basis. The day was organised by Brian Middlemiss of the London and Southern Roof Training Group, with special guest speaker Paul Blanchard, who gave a presentation entitled Life After an Accident.

This day compliments all the other on going safety courses the company organises throughout the year.

Richard Soan stated that this was yet another successful day with everyone in awe of the story told by Paul Blanchard of his massive life changing experience following his dreadful roof accident which has left him totally paralysed from the chest down, and with no sense of smell, taste or feeling, his story is quite unbelievable and very moving.

The Lewes Business Awards

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have been announced Business of the Year at The Lewes Business Awards 2015 which is a huge honour. To be voted Lewes and District Business of the Year is an incredible achievement and a wonderful honour, how do we better that locally?
I am obviously a very proud person to receive this accolade, but everyone involved with the company can also feel very proud as they have helped to make this possible. As an organisation we have very strong old fashion beliefs that quality and customer service is paramount, and all employees buy into that. Everyone engaged by the company are treated in the same way and are part of a big extended family, and that is what helps us become successful in my opinion.
Working in the Construction Industry during this past recession has been extremely difficult on occasions but we are still here telling the story as they say ,so to be honoured with this award is amazing. This award also compliments the recent award that we received at the Lewes and Wealden Business Awards for Quality Customer Service another fantastic honour, that we are very proud of.

The Teenage Cancer Trust Raceday

Press release below from The Sussex Express

"Richard Soan Roofing Services are pleased to announce that following a very successful Charity Race Day held at Brighton Race Course recently, which was supported by the Roofing & Construction Industry, the sum of £10,000.00 was raised for Teenage Cancer Trust.
This is the third event of a similar nature in as many years that the Company has organized on behalf of Cancer Teenage Trust as well as undertaking smaller Fund Raising Events throughout the year.
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK Charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young people between the ages of 13 and 24 who have cancer.
The organization rely completely on donations to fund their vital work. Nothing they do would be possible without the donations they receive.
Everyday around seven young people are diagnosed with cancer and the object of Teenage Cancer Trust is to make sure that these young people all have access to the Specialist Care and Support that they provide, no matter where they live.
Richard Soan stated that he was delighted with the support that he had received from within with Construction & Roofing Industry and wished to thank all those attending the Event for their very generous support and to raise £10,000.00 in an afternoon is an amazing effort.
Jade McShane representing Teenage Cancer Trust stated that the afternoon had been a brilliant affair and thanked Richard Soan for his efforts in organizing the Event and to raise the amount of money that has been raised in an afternoon is an incredible achievement.

The Teenage Cancer Trust Raceday

Article taken from The RCI Magazine (Roofing, Cladding & Insulation) - September 2013
" Richard Soan, managing director of Richard Soan Roofing Services managed to raise close to £10,000.00 for Teenage Cancer Trust after organizing a hugely successful "Fundraising Friday" race day at Brighton Racecourse in August. Richard explained "It is great to support such a fantastic charity as The Teenage Cancer Trust and I would like to say a huge thank you to Brighton Racecourse, Hardings Catering and the roofing industry, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers, without whom the day would not have been the great success that it was." All money raised from this event will go towards the maintenance of the state-of-the-art specialist Teenage Cancer Trust unit at The Royal Marsden in Surrey which supports young cancer patients from across East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey and Kent. The 13-bed, £3.5million unit in Sutton supports young people aged 14-24. The unit is unlike an ordinary hospital ward and instead it has been "uniquely" designed to bring young people together to be treated by teenage cancer experts in a place designed just for them. The home-from-home unit is bright and vibrant, and features five individual bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and two four-bed bays. There is also space within these rooms for family and friends to stay over. The unit has a patient and parent kitchen, a dedicated house cook and a unique outdoor roof terrace. Jade McShane, Teenage Cancer Trust regional fundraiser, said "We can't thank Richard, Brighton Racecourse and everyone else who supported the event enough for all the hard work they put into making this event such a success. Teenage Cancer Trust relies on donations and so all money raised will go towards the maintenance of our unit, fund our specialist staff and support the work of our free cancer awareness sessions in schools, colleges and universities across the South East."
